This chapter explains Renesas RL78 specific debug functionalities. For general debug information, refer to general Debug chapter.

Debugging is based on Renesas OCD monitor, which is loaded into the last block of the internal program flash. For this reason, this block is reserved for the debugger.

Additionally, following microcontroller resources are affected during the debugging:

•4 bytes at address 0x0 (reset and NMI vectors)

•OCD option byte at 0xC3

•8 bytes at address 0xD0 (jump table)

•6 bytes of user stack are used by the OCD monitor
