Logging

This chapter explains how to send or view relevant winIDEA logs.

Do not enable too many options if it's not required, because large logs file can slow down the system.

Power-cycle the debugger (or disconnect winIDEA).

This is important to start an empty log file. To disconnect winIDEA select Tools menu / Disconnect isystem.open Plug-in.

Create a support log.

Open Help menu / Support / Log.

Enable logs.

hmtoggle_arrow0  Explanation of each log is given in the in-help section.

1. Press Clear , which clears resent log information.

2. Confirm by clicking OK.

3. You can either:

  • Send the Log file - Copy the location, e.g., C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\iSYSTEM\winIDEA to help you add the attachment in the email; or
  • View the Log file via Open button.

Where logs come in handy?

hmtoggle_arrow0 Check if a reset is generated by the external or internal sources (Watchdog issues)

hmtoggle_arrow0 Check that the Flash memory is not secured

hmtoggle_arrow0 Remove internal resets (number 9)
