Galvanic Isolation Adapters
Galvanic Isolation Adapters provide a basic isolation that withstands high voltages.
Galvanic Isolation Adapters can be connected between the iC5700 BlueBox and an Embedded Target via a Debug Adapter or an Active Probe to provide electrical isolation.
To ensure you are up-and-running as savely and quickly as possible, we offer a range of Galvanic Isolation Adapters.
Galvanic isolation is used where two electric circuits must communicate, but their grounds may be at different potentials. It is an effective method of breaking ground loops between the two circuits. Galvanic isolation is also used for safety reasons, preventing accidental current from reaching ground through a person's body. You can find more information about galvanic isolation in Technical Note Galvanic Isolation.
Power Supply
Embedded Target and the BlueBox debugger are separately powered and isolated from each other. Galvanic Isolation Adapters are powered separately as well via a USB-C Power supply adapter.
Using the Galvanic Isolation Adapters with various Microcontrollers architectures
iSYSTEM Galvanic Isolation Adapters are designed for a variety of Microcontroller architectures:
- Infineon AURIX
- ARM Cortex
- NXP / ST Power Architecture
Safety
iSYSTEM Galvanic Isolation Adapters provide a basic isolation that withstands high voltages. It is mandatory to have a second protection measure in place, in case the first insulation barrier fails. How should a double isolation be implemented depends on the use-case or application setup.
